What the Incline Bench Press Builds
The incline bench press is a bench press on a bench tilted back, usually somewhere between 30 and 45 degrees. The angle puts it halfway between the flat bench and the overhead press, so it trains the upper chest and the front of the shoulders together with the triceps.
That makes it a natural second pressing lift. It adds pressing volume at a fresh angle, and strength built here tends to show up in both your bench press and your strict press.
Set your shoulder blades back and down, plant your feet, and lower the bar to your upper chest, just below the collarbones. Press it back up until it sits over your shoulders. Sets of 5 to 8 reps suit most lifters.
Log your incline bench and this page tracks your rep PRs and tonnage, so you can see it climb alongside your other presses.
